MUSIC THERAPY MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Music Therapy is an established health profession using music and music activities to address physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.

The benefits that Music Therapy produce are based on therapeutic application ~ that is, the relationship of the Music, the Music Therapist, and the individual client or group, focusing on a particular objective and/or goal.

Music Therapists use creative, improvisational music and movement.  Client participation is particularly important, interactively sharing in sessions and activities.

Music Therapists recognize individual physical and psychological responses to music, and design appropriate treatment plans for improved physical and emotional health.

Each music therapy session consists of goals and objectives which parallel the treatment plan, specific to a particular group.  The music is actually the medium or tool from which the therapy proceeds to help people young and old work through various obstacles.  The growth and learning experience using music is fun, rewarding, non-threatening, and very unique, creating a therapeutic bond between the therapist and group participants.  Many therapeutic programs all over the United States now contract with Music Therapists because they have seen their profound impact and success with many client populations.

Music Therapy is being used in many facilities that are striving for progressive programs that enhance and enrich their clients' therapeutic experience.
